Default Caney 6-18-2012

Had another fun day on the Caney. Still no Bows for me but I am going too early. I arrived at 11:30 and thought I could hang until dark...couldn't do it....LOL. Caught well over 100 Brookies. Of course I started out fishing with a Bison colored Trout Magnet. Was either catching a Brook or getting a hit on almost every cast. Then switched to a 2.5 inch Trout Crank thinking I could get some Bows and or Browns. Well the Brookies were tearing that up also. So just went back to the Trout Magnet...forgot my net and since I wasn't catching any bigger fish did not want to chance getting bit by those trebles. My regular fishing holes are not producing right now so will go to the Caney until my holes start producing again. Todays fish seem to have a little more girth to them. Also caught a few white Bass and a couple of Gills. Lots of fun...wanting some bigger fish but they will come.

Regards

Yeah I spent most of the day twitching. Put the float on a couple of times just because I like to see it disappear. Next time I go will take my 9 foot float rod. It will give me much more fun with the Brookies. I have tried the Mini's before...and they catch fish. I did not use them today....will use them next time up.

Alpha,

How'd you do on tims ? I'm hitting the caney from now on due to some less-than-ideal events on my (former) hotspots, so I may see you on the weekend. Feel free to give me a call if you have questions/suggestions...I like helping people and love free advice, lol.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't do well at all. It could have been location...bad day..who knows. I didn't even catch a Pumpkin Seed. But all my spots are not producing right now either. I will go back to Tims...check out down at the dam and try the upper end of the lake also. Even my two "go to" TWRA Lakes are producing nothing. i.e. Laurel Hill...VFW. I usually catch fish..I mean some sort of fish is usually willing to hit a Trout Magnet. Will just keep trying. We really need a lot of rain. I fully expect the White Bass to be in the jumps in a week or two at Pickwick.

Regards
