Default Darn Rain

Am I the only guy bummed out by this weather? Yesterday I hosted a BBQ and grilled in the rain. "I'll fish tomorrow," I thought. "Think positive."

This morning I called the mom, made French toast for my wife, and frowned at the sky. I look forward to my fishing Sunday all work week long.

<Sigh> I guess we need the rain anyway...

Actually, I ended up going out anyway for about 2 hours. It rained the whole time, but I had a blast. I was the only kayak out there but there were several bass boats.

Lost a deep diving crankbait and was ready to call it a "skunk day" when I finally landed this guy a few minutes before sunset! What a thrill.

Funny thing....he was only nibbling at my lure. Very noncommittal. I was 100% certain it was a bluegill messing with me. I missed the hook set the first time around and was surprised to feel a good hard tug a few seconds later.

Sometimes "one last cast" works!

I was the only kayak/boat on the water today at Laurel Hill. It was not supposed to rain down there but it rained most of the day. I was soaked but stayed with it. The rain broke up a lot of the moss on the lake and gave the water a little color to it which should further inhibit the moss. Plus....we really need the rain.

Regards
