OH crappie
Got out about four hours to fish for some slabs on the Hick, I've had some success over the last couple weeks on docks in water around 4 feet deep, but that wasn't the case Saturday. After hitting about ten of my best docks and not a single crappie (did hang a bunch of small to medium gills) I moved to cover in 4 to 6 feet of water. I was working southern pro hot grubs (popsicle and KY killer) on 1/16 oz jigs slowly around the perimeters and started picking up a few shorts. On one bush, while fishing the edge I noticed a jig on a branch and it got the better of me (being the tightwad that I am) so I eased over to it and got it off the branch. I notice a hole in the brush about 2 feet in area and dropped my jig down into it. The jig didn't get down 12" down and bump! I hossed a nice 12" plus out of the brush. I wound up putting 11 - 12" plus slabs in the livewell in about two hours catching very few shorts all tightlining jigs in the middle of brush in 3 to 6 feet of water. I don't know who broke the jig off in the brush but a big thanks goes your way!
Happy fishing to all!
