Default Bedford Lake 4-06-2012

Took the kayak over to Bedford Lake. Found lots of Gill beds. Caught between 75 and 100 in a little over two hours. They were running between 7 and 10 inches long. Nice shoulders on them. Took the camera out for these 3 but still am not comfortable with doing that. Got to get a Kodak Play Sport or something water proof until I get a GoPro. These fish were all about a half pound or little better....lots of fun on 2# test. Headed to the Smallie hole tomorrow.

regards

Nice gills, and soulds like the action was hot. I keep my camera's, and valuables in a Pelican box with clear lid. Camera is waterproof though.

Thanks Jeremy.....I keep my camera in a Pelican box but I know sooner or later I will drop it in the drink...LOL. It is not waterproof and I need to get one. Used the drag chain today. It worked quite well but there was nothing but a breeze blowing. I got out of there before the bad weather. Have been addicted to fishing for many years...but fishing from a kayak takes it to a whole new level.

I can tell by the last pic that you were in the exact same spot that we were last Sunday when we caught those blue gill. Great pics by the way. Glad you didn't get rained out. We plan on heading back over there Saturday. Hope they're still biting that good after this cool down. Maybe I'll have some pics to share.

They should still be there. I could see them chasing the Trout Magnet. That is the first time I have ever fished Bedford from a boat. I might be there early tomorrow morning..not sure. I am pretty impressed with those size Gills with the quantity. I'm thinking in about a week or two the really big ones will come up and the Shell Cracker bite should be on.

It is a small TWRA Lake over near Normandy TN....which is near Shelbyville TN. I had always heard it had some really nice Gills there and that is the case. You may keep 20 in combination with Shell Crackers. They are filleting size Bluegill.
