We used to rent a houseboat every year around the middle of April from Dale Hollow Dock. Right by the boat ramp there was a spot and smallmouth that would always try to spawn together. Looked just like that video. Amazing ritual!!

robhal11, right there with you. I'm just glad I thought to film it quick enough to be able to share it. . Browntrout, that's really cool. Their seed does bear fruit. We get two or three "meanies" mean mouth bass a year. It is a smallie/ spotted hybrid.

Came upon a bed of huge Red Ear yesterday in the kayak at VFW Lake. About 25 to 30 fish..all of them doing the deal...LOL. Wouldn't touch anything I put to them. I spent well over an hour trying to get them to bite...nothing going. In talking with a fisheries biologist and reading, there is a small window when they do that and Red Ear will not eat anything. It's not that way with Gills. Will go back to same point next week and they should be finished and at the same area just moved to deeper water.

Regards

That's a good plan Alpha, most fish wont feed on bed but some will protect the nest, which makes them catchable... Mostly bass.
