Default Spinning Reel recommendation?

I fish with shimano curados baitcasters, so I don't know too much about spinning reels.

I have a friend who is down on his luck, and I'm working with a couple of people and we are getting him a custom built fishing rod and I'm looking to buy him a used spinning reel around $50-70, I've been searching around, but for spinners, I don't know what is good brand/style for spinning reels.

Any opinion for good spinning reel I could find used in the $50-70 range???

Thanks

Chad

I use all shimano Spinning reels. Sedona is in that price range. Symetre is great but over 70.00

Let me check my stuff Chad. I may be able to do a rod/reel combo or two if interested in that price range for him.

Chad, would you be interested in a used Shimano Spirex 1000 & used Shimano Aero 2000 on a couple Bass Pro Bionic Blade rods that haven't ever been fished with for your friend?

PM-me if interested.

Don't get hung up on different brands. All of them have an occasional quality control problem. Good used spinning reels can be hard to find. If you don't come up with something I can send a used Sahara 1000 to you.....a guy needs to fish. It has been used a lot but has also been professionally cleaned and lubed twice a year for the past 3 years.

6-8 Shimano's since the early 90's still fish all them, no problems at all. I am sure there are other great brands also. I have a few mitchells that are really old also(have had several older fellows try to buy them).

I have the Daiwa Whisker SS1300. It has been around for years and has proven itself. One of the best drags ever made on a spinning reel. I use power-pro 10# test, 2# diameter and it casts like a bullet. These reels are know to last years and years. I have the Japanese version, paid over $100 on ebay for a new one and I feel that it is worth every penny. Do a google search on them and you will see how they rate.
