Nickajack....Tuesday and Thursday.

Went to Nickajack this week and fished Tuesday and Thursday. For both days only had 7 Crappie...all of them at the 15 inch mark. Also caught several nice Spots...got into some 12 inch Smallies on Thursday and a lot of really big Bluegill Thursday also. The water is warming there. Scouted out some great places to fish for spawning Crappie....even had a guy take me to several spots to show me where they will be...how nice and lucky was that!? If anyone is interested will post when the Crappie eggs start showing blood. Tried Tuesday at the tail race. Walked that thing from handicap pier up to the dam...nothing......maybe that is why I was the only one below the dam...LOL. There was a Forrest fire in the hills around the lake. I don't know if it was a controlled burn or not...but sometimes the smoke was pretty thick around the lake. Should pick up my two new Jackson Coosas on 21 March. That will change how I fish dramatically....open up a lot more area for me.

Thanks for the report. I haven't fished Nickjack dam for about 4 years now, but I'm planning on hitting it a bit in the Spring.
