Does anyone know where I can find out when they stock? I'm curious because I did some exploring of new spots on the river today and I found a boat ramp with about 50 trout just hanging around and some of them were very naive, I actually grabbed a couple with my bare hands and tossed them out away from the ramp. As soon as I got there I noticed huge splashing that reminded me of my days in south Florida seeing snook smash mullet against the mangroves. I've never seen this in freshwater. I was able to finally get a good look at the fish and they were giant stripers smashing these baby trout. I think today was a stock day because I can't think of any other reason there would be that many trout hanging around a boat ramp. Does anyone have info on this?
Also, these stripers were big.. I mean real big. They came right up to the shore where I was standing (the water was way too deep to wade here) and went after these little trout and I got a close look at them. They were easily in the 10-15 pound range. I was throwing everything I could think of that would resemble an injured, panicking 6" or so trout and had no luck. All I wanted was to catch one of these beasts!! I tried a topwater popper, some Zoom soft plastic jerkbaits, and a big rapala. Any suggestions? I plan on giving this place another shot since it obviously holds some large stripers. If someone can give me some GOOD advice on how to catch these things.. I may tell you where I saw all this action
