Default Harpeth report

Got out today in the heat with a few friends to canoe the harpeth. It was a bad decision. The water level is pretty low. had to drag the canoe through most of the 5 mile stretch. Caught a bout 7 various sunfish on a rooster tail and i few smallies under 10 inches on a pumpkinseed grub. put a piece of my sandwich on the hook and had about 3 catfish bash my bait. Theres more than i thought in there. Just glad i got out again today

Is the water cool down there or is it warming up being that shallow?

I haven't been down to the Harpeth in a really long time.

its not too warm but its comfortable. You kinda got to get used to it though. the deeper holes seemed to be holding the fish today.

There are lots of channel cats in the deeper holes of the Harpeth, especially on the reaches closer to the Cumberland.

I had a good time Saturday. Four red-eye, two sunfish, and my first catfish from my kayak. The catfish in a kayak was an intense experience, can't wait to do it again. It took total control of my boat. 5lb fish at most but a ton of fun. This was a section in Franklin. Can't wait to get out this weekend too! Oh, and all were caught on cicada's, even the cat.

By section in franklin, do you mean you put in at hwy 100? Thats what i did and we took a few miles down. Didnt get any redeyes. I only seem to find those in edwin warner park where the little harpeth runs through and another section of the harpeth out near natchez trace.
