My wife and I want to move there in a few years, so we're using a vacation as an excuse to check it out. We're going the southeast portion of Alaska. We're heading to Sitka, Juneau, Haines, and Skagway for the trip. We'll be hopping to each city by either ferry or bush plane and will be staying at a bed and breakfast at each location.
I REEEEAAALLLLY wanted to do some fishing while I am up there, especially for Halibut. But I'm not for two reasons...
One there is so much other things scheduled on the trip that it was hard to find the time to squeeze in a fishing trip. Two is that they pretty much shoot the halibut when you bring it to boatside. Apparently a large, live one can do A LOT of damage to you and the interior of the boat
I didn't want to deal with the hassel and cost of getting the fish home. I figured I'll be getting plenty of chances at 'em whenever we move. It should still be a trip with a lot of great memories anyways. I'll be sure to post some pics!
