Default Need Help! - Wounded Heroes Tournament

Hi All!

I am hosting a tournament for our wounded veterans on Old Hickory Lake - June 11, 2011, launching out of Flipper's.

I have 25 wounded Vets that will be coming from Fort Campbell to participate, and we want to make it a day just for them.

The American Wounded Heroes Fishing Classic is 8AM - 1230PM. What we need is boaters to volunteer their time and boat, and take a vet fishing.

Yes this is in conjuction with the BFL tourny launching from there. We will launch after they launch and weigh in before that group comes in.

Flipper will conduct the launching and weigh-in. After the tournament we will have awards and lunch.

If interested, please shoot me a reply or email. We have three boats so far..so we need more.

Thanks in advance!
Mike

I called Mike today and confirmed my time and boat for this. This is a really good cause and I'm surprised more people on this forum haven't offered up thier time and boat. I'm excited for this because it's not every day you can show your appreciation for a wounded vet. It's my understanding that they are coming down from Fort Campbell which those guys have seen some tough fighting throughout the last several years.

When I talked to Mike he had 4 boats confirmed so it sounds like he could use some more. Let's get it done.

I would like to say as a Viet Nam Veteran This is a great thing that is being done for the Wounded Vets. Not only outings like this but the overall mindset that the US Citizens have for Our returning vets. This a lot different than when I returned in 1969.

At this time I would like to ask the 1,182 members that have posted over 10,031 posts on this board, if at all possible, to participate in this worth while function. To continue to show our fishing and boating community what makes www.FishingTN.com the Bench Mark for web sites in Middle Tennessee because of our information and community service for our Tennessee Anglers.... Thanks again for your usual support.

Thanks, TK! We will need twenty five (25) boats. If we have more than that, then I am sure we could find something for them to help out with.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks!

I would but I'm going to Nicaragua on a Missions trip that week, I was actually typing my reply when my wife reminded me that I wasn't going to be here. I'll do what I can to spread the word though, this is a great thing you're doing.

Hi Mike,

I would love to help somehow. I don't think my old junker boat is up to the tournament fishing standards to offer taking out a wounded vet on it.

I really like my boat, but I never fish out of Flipper's in the summer because of boat traffic. I don't feel real safe with all the wakes and big boats in the main channel. I usually stay in the creeks or head up river to avoid the traffic.

Any thoughts on other ways to help?

Jim

Thanks everyone! Sure Jim, I am sure we can figure something out. Just give me a call sometime. Still got my number?

Great seeing you the other day at SportClips. We need to catch up sometime soon!

Jim,

I am sure your boat will be fine. We are not in a big rush or anything. If you feel it is safe enough, then I will put you down. Just let me know.

Thanks!
Mike

I will call you. I still have your number. I am tied up with business for the next week or so and will call after that.

I would really love to be there and bring the boat but on the weekend of June 11 I too will have a house full of vets. My wife adopts soldiers from all theatres and has been doing so for quite some time. Once yearly several come down and stay with us for a couple of days to meet in person. On saturday of the visit we have a ccok-out and get together and bring in family and freinds to show our appreciation. This year we are cooking a whole pig and several whole chickens. We always have room for a hungry vet. Good luck with the tournament and God Bless for all you are doing for these guys.

Default American Wounded Heroes Fishing Classic ON HOLD

Hi Everyone!

Thank you so much for your time and to the ones that have volunteered to help with the Fishing Classic On June 11. Unfortunately, we have taken a huge hit in even having the event. Fort Campbell notified me that they are not able to supply veterans for the event at this time. Plans are to regroup, reorganize, and tackle another event for next year.

Thanks!
Mike
