Nice Mill dam
Anybody been trout fishing over there lately? I've never been there, but thinking of going the cold day this weekend. I'm not familiar with wading there, so thanks in advance for any advice. If anybody wants to meet there let me know

I was there last week after the big rain the water was up 8 feet, but prior
to that the trout and the rock bass were biting depending on which
bait you were throwing.

The water is way high and muddy. May be too high to do much good right now fishing at Nice's Mill. I would try tail waters of JPP. jmho

I work nights and am off Tue and Wed night. I use a light spinning rod and reel for both trout and rock bass.

I think you are thinking of Rock Fish aka Striper. An 8wt might be a little too much for a 13" Rock Bass.

Thanks for mthe heads up jaycee. Don't want to wash away. Guess I'll sit on the deck & watch wood float down OH.
Yeah, I was thinking Rock Fish and not Rock Bass. I'd forgotten about them.

You know you have caught a rock bass on an 8wt fly rod because the backcast feels a little heavy and then you hear something flopping behind you in the trees.

I was in the area so I went by Nice's Mill today just to have a look around. It's still high and fast. Some guys are catching a few fish bottom fishing with powerbait but it's tough conditions for fly fishing. You could probably get a few with a weighted line and wooly buggers stripped through the current, but that's a lot of work for stockers.

Today went to Nice Mill and caught six rainbow in about a hour on a
Strike King Bitsy Pond Minnow. I was testing out a new 69ML cabonlite
rod and the Browning Midas 25 reel, sweet set up!
