Default Jackson Coosa

Well yesterday late afternoon we drove over to Sparta, TN to the Jackson Kayak Factory. We got a private tour, and picked up our Coosa's. These are what we will mainly be fishing out of this year. My wife was asked about a month ago to join the Jackson Kayak Fishing Team http://jacksonkayak.com/team-jk/ and she accepted the offer. We will be fishing in the 2011 River Bassin Tournament Trail hosted by Bass Pro Shops http://www.riverbassintrail.com/. We test paddled the Jackson Coosa the 1st weekend of October, and really liked it.

There are 2 models of the Coosa the Standard and the Elite. The Standard has a molded seat, and the Elite has a mesh seat that has a high and low position. The Elite is definately worth the difference.
Standard

Elite

Seat in the low position

Seat in the high position, you can fit 4 Plano tackle trays under the seat like this, or in the low position you can place 2 Plano tackle trys under the seat

Here are some of the features of the Jackson Coosa
Rod stagers on the front so you can have all your rods in front of you and handy. These stagers allow the rod to stay put and not slide all over the place and get tangled. The reels can fit under the seat.

There are molded recesses for the rod butts, and bungee straps to secure your rod butts. Also notice the large flat standing area. The Coosa is one of the most stable fishing kayaks on the market. With the seat in the high position it makes it easy to go from the sitting position to the standing position.

In the pic below it shows the angled rod holders to allow for traveling under low hanging limbs. The rear tankwell offers space for storage. There is also lockable storage front and rear to allow for camping gear, or whatever you might want to pack with you. Also you can store rods in the hull of the kayak safely.

This storage is waterproof, and large enough for keys, wallet, and a few snacks, or whatever you want to ensure that stays dry.

All the oval recesses allow for Tallon Mounts you can install camera's, fishfinder, drink holders, rod holders, or lights.

The recesses across the gunwell allow for you to lay your paddle down without it rolling, or sliding off the kayak. There is also a paddle holder with bungee cord on the left and right side.

My kayak is the standard Sand color, and Sarah's is a custom Green/Blue.

Hope to see you on the water soon.

Looks awesome man! I'm pretty much sold on the Coosa and can't wait to get my hands on one. Thanks for sharing your pictures with us!

I had been meaning to ask, What is the purpose of the drag chain? My guess is to slow the drift.

You are correct the purpose is to slow the drift, and in slower moving water it can hold you more safely than an anchor. An anchor tends to catch on boulders, trees, and other things that are submerged, and when you snag, and are not prepared to cut or release the anchor you can be swamped, and placed in a difficult situation. The drag chain is made out of large chain that is placed in bicycle innertube to silence the chain when dragging across the bottom, or laying on the hull of your craft. In lakes I will use an anchor, but in rivers it's drag chain only for me.
