Thumbs up Tennessee May Fishing

Good Afternoon Everyone,

I'm a noobie to this forum, but thought I'd give it a shot for some information! I'm coming down from Ohio to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge on Mother's Day weekend, and I'm looking to get some fishing in. I can't bring my boat with me, so I figured I'd get hooked up with a guide.

What fishing is popular middle of May for all of you? I love catching bass, but I don't know which bass would be the best to target this time of the year (River/Creek Smallmouth, Largemouth, Striper, Wiper ). I'm taking my girlfriend along, and I'm okay driving anywhere within 1.5 hr for a guide (Cherokee, Douglas, or Rivers in the area).

From what I understand, Trout is popular this time of the year, but I don't believe my girlfriend would enjoy fly fishing and wading as much as being on a boat or a float.

Also if you have any suggestions on popular fishing guides, please leave a comment.

Thanks!

If you do decide to trout fish from the bank check out the regulations in that area. Just use light fluorocarbon line on spinning gear with a float and trout magnet. Small jerkbaits work well for trout too.

To add to that there is an Ace hardware in Gatlinburg I usually stop in to get a license and check out what’s going on for trout.

Second this! Contact Ezell for some striper fishing. You will not be disappointed. May will be a great time on Cherokee.
