I was getting my engine serviced today at Clark Marine and looked at a new Ranger bass boat in the showroom. Took a photo of the card showing the price tag ...



$692 per month for 20 years!

If that is the anniversary edition boat, only one per dealer.That is no excuse for that kind of cabbage.How much longer can folks afford new boats?$70-100k for boat then $50-60k for truck.Not me.

Insanity! But, good for the manufacturer and the dealers cause they will keep making them and selling them as long as guys rush out to get the latest and greatest and charging a small fortune for them.

Good lord! You will have it paid for in 20 years! $700 a month for 20 years? Laughable to me but folks will go out and buy it. I would venture to say that 90% of them can't afford it. If you have to finance a boat for 20 years then you probably shouldn't be getting that boat.

Pretty sure that boat was at Fishing Expo. Yep lot of money.....but here is the way I look at it. Lot of folks above me, and some folks below me on the food chain. Many will look at someone with a boat that cost maybe 5 grand...and think that is too much money. That’s because it is a lot of money to them. Money is being spent on rigs like that every single day. So called crappie boats are going out the door for 60 grand. I say if you got it....good for you.

Ranger is a fine boat, this is a professional level sponsored fisherman class rig nearly out of reach for the average guy. The new aluminum designed rigs of equal class will perform nearly identical in performance and only lack marginal ride quality for much less. I'll stick with my smaller aluminum rig, continue upgrading my electronics and have as much fun with a heaver wallet and peace of mind.

We are also over looking 10% down or $10k cash + $692 a month..$10k cash buys a pretty decent boat in my book.

Just bought a stratos, 17'3", tops out at 65 with 150 johnson for $5,000. guess it is a "junker".

I went ahead and purchased this Ranger. I figured all of FishingTN could split the payment, we could get down to 10.00 a month, not bad. The only bad thing is when my wife found out she kicked me out of the house sooo does anyone have extra room for me to stay? LOL.

I was told that most of the guys purchasing the $50K rigs are financing for 12 years. Most of the nice boats are $50K or more. Check the prices of the Wakeboard boats the 19 year olds are towing to the lake with new jacked up pickups. That is the one I can't figure out. Price travel trailers, houseboats, etc. Toys are expensive. If I had a nice Ranger, I would keep another boat around just for fishing so the Ranger could stay shiny! For most of my life, I fished in boats most people would not ride in (and still caught fish).

If you can afford the boat, buy it and take it out as much as possible.
