My buddy and I hit Old Hickory Sunday morning around 8 AM. We left and the water temperature was around 69°. Put in at shutes and went to drakes creek to fish the grass for a largemouth. The water was down 2 1/2–3 feet. Which really messed up the grass fishing. We used mostly frogs and spinnerbaits with no hits. I did have a short fish on a black and blue net bait craw. We decided to move across the main channel into a cove. Shad were busting and there we caught a few bass on rattletraps and large road runners but they were short fish. We moved down to sailboat cove area and I did hook a nice smallmouth about 3 pounds but he jumped about 5 feet from the boat and got off. My buddy hooked about a 25 pound Carp and yes a turtle. He did catch several bluegill on the trout magnet with a float around docks. In the picture you can see how low the water is, there is a lot of grass showing. On a sidenote I read guide Brian Carper had a tournament on Sunday on Percy Priest and did not have one keeper. I'm not sure what it took to win that tournament, not much I'm assuming.
