Recent fish from Tims Ford

Here are some recent photos from the StriperMemories boat on Tims Ford Lake. The fish were all caught trolling.

Nice Fish! ... Have you developed any other techniques to get 'em besides trolling. ... I used to love to drift over a school with jigging spoons back when I fished the Chesapeake bay.

When you catch fish like the ones pictured on every outing there is no need to look for other techniques. That would be like trying to develop a technique to start your car other than just turning the key or pressing the start button.

I used to see the Striper guides on Lake Texoma vertical jigging slab spoons. Normally, that was the only method they used in those boats. And they caught fish!

In order for that technique to work, you have to stay on top of the schools. That is the problem this time of the year when the fish and bait schools are moving so much. If I could stay on top of a school, it would be more fun to drop a lively Alewife into the school.

I do see fishermen casting spoons on points early and late in the day. I guess fishing with a lot of rods at the same time excites me more. We have a front on the way, will see what it does to fishing, may have to try vertical jigging to catch fish!

Oh, I love trolling to locate and catch fish, .... but there is somethin' I love about vertical jigging a big 'crippled alewife' and when a hefty striper hits and makes that drag screaming run!

Those are some beauties for sure... I feel like you learn a lot trolling around too. I have found some of my favorite sit and fish spots trolling. There are just certain places that attract and hold fish more regularly that you don't really know why, and sometimes you just catch up with the school at an unlikely place. I feel like I haven't been trolling enough lately
