Default Meanmouth bass in Old Hickory?

While fishing yesterday I caught a bass that looked just like a smallmouth except it had the belly stripes of a spotted bass. Also had the red eyes of a smallmouth. It had the tounge patch of a spot. Anyone have any info on this?

That sure looks like a spotted bass to me. I've caught a bunch of them.

Me to. I've caught hundreds of spotted bass. But never one that looked like this one. It may have been just really dark colored. But I didn't catch it out from under a dock or grass or anything that would give it that coloration

That's a Cumberland river spot.
I don't know why they don't have the super dark line like other spots.

I caught this on priest a few years ago, some say it was a meanmouth. It was 16". The cheek markings look like a smallie and it has a few vertical stripes as well as the horizontal. Very pretty fish
