Default Personal Best Striper on Artificials

Not a giant by no means, but to date, on an artificial, its my biggest.
Took a cast with a big wake bait and had a big V wave behind it and a massive boil. another cast, closer to the boat seen a glimpse of silver. changed baits to a swim bait....cast, sploosh, 3 turns of the reel and BINGO!
i knew when i hooked it, it was going to go down 1 of 2 ways. i hammer her and she bolts for the nearest tree about 5ft from where i cast, or she bolts for the channel. Luckily for me, she made the mistake of taking the deep water route. i had the trolling motor already set on high and pointing toward the middle of the river. when she hit, it was like a seen from jaws or something, big submarine just below the surface, thick mono making that humming sound as it cut the water.
had several follows and a few more big boils early that morning up and down the river. caught 2 smaller stripers at sun up. they killed the water at 8 so i split. guessing the drop in water had surface activity to a minimum.
a few more slight tweaks to my tackle and i think im gonna be in the game more consistently on my trips. wanted to stick around after the stripers to boat some saugers but with the killing of generation, i figured my time would have been best spent doing yard work. lol.
the pic looks like crap cause its a still frame of a video. i didnt get the catch on video, but it was too difficult to hold the fish and juggle a selfie stick.
Go Pro should be delivered today...woo hoo!

Nice catch John, being prepared to go to deep water always is a plus...good skill.

I lost more fish than i care to admit to when i first started targeting them 2 years ago on O.H due to being unprepared. Lol.
Undersized rod, reel, line....lol. just overall ignorance on that style of fishing for them. Now if they wrap around a tree, im fairly confident i can tie to a boat cleat, fire up the yamaha and pull lure, fish and tree out. Lol
