Default Decent day on old hickory

Got out yesterday for some crappie fishing. Started deep and ended up shallow. I hit one spot and pulled nothing but 12" or better out for a solid hour and then it dried up. So I ventured around looking for something similar and didn't really get back on them like that. So I hit the "mother load" at the right time!!!

The bluegill got released, just wanted y'all to see how fat it was!! Caught some decent catfish too, and don't know how many crappie got tossed back.

I really can't answer that because I don't know how long they typically stay shallow. Deezltek took them home and cleaned them and he told me that only one had very little eggs in her. So that tells me that they're pretty much done spawning. The little pocket and tree top I fished was full of crappie though. I only caught two deep (12 fow) and the rest were in 3-6 fow. After the bite stopped in the tree top I went to another pocket but didn't find any size. Then I picked deezltek up at the ramp and went back to my first pocket. Only pulled one or two out of the tree top, tried deep again and struck out, started throwing at logs and stick ups just off the bank and started catching them again.

Long story short, Sunday they were shallow.

And that's the 3rd or 4th tarp crappie that deezltek or myself have caught this year alone.

Like skillet said, We have been catching some real nice crappie this year.. it was a blast.. only one of the biggest had just a little bit of eggs in her..

Also tied into a few catfish on the ultra light. Now that's an experience.
