Default JPP Crappie 03-12

I hit the lake early in the fog in search of Hybrids where i was hoping they would be. Tons of bait, a few bigger arcs on the lowrance, a little surface activity but not a hybrid to be hooked. I cast, jigged and trolled for several hours around the bait to no avail. So i went back up the lake to catch some crappies. the sun was shining, nice and warm weather when i took my first cast. small crappie, then a small gill. beating the bank i found 1 spot, there was a small brush pile next to what felt like a big rock and there was a good little school in that spot. i boated 12 and brought home 12 off that little area. Caught a little largemouth and a smallmouth and several chunky yellow bass as well. the keeper ranged from 10-1/2" to the big momma going just a smidge under 14" and super thick across her back. Once the clouds covered up the sun, it was like somebody flipped a switch! Nothing else, not even a bite.
Fish were caught on the TM Slab Magents in the pearly color with black flakes on a 1/16th oz jig. them fish hammered it too. Left the water just before the rain so it was a good day.
I seen one guy doing pretty good spider rigging, he was fishing over deeper water, but it looked like he was only fishing about 1/2 way down or so.
Hoping to fish this weekend, but ive got a few days off next week but looks like the weather is gonna get cool again....hoping the extended forecast warms up some before my days off! LOL.
the tail end of my winter river jigging went to pot with all the rain causing high, fast muddy water so it was nice to actually catch some fish again. LOL.
