Sauger fishing info

Hey guys I'm going below cheatem on Monday and would love some info. I've never been sauger fishing, how does one do it? Are there specific techniques or is it mostly like smallmouth fishing? I'm going to take my med fishing setup since I might be able to catch some small striper and whites but any advice would be great. I've got a limited budget but definitely willing to go grab the needed gear to target them. Tha KS guys!

If you are fishing from land pick up some 1/8, 1/4, and some 3/8 oz lead heads and a couple of bags of 4" pearl or pearl with chartreuse tail Brewers bass sliders. I have not heard any reports from below Cheatham, but have some from below Cordell Hull last week. Cast out and barely tick the rocks. If you can't feel the rocks cast upstream or go to the next heavier head.

Minnow minnow minnow if you can get some. Remember sauger and walleye are hanging out on the bottom. I would use 6-8lb test line nothing to heavy.
1. Minnow with a 1/4 oz split shot about one foot from hook (I like a small circle hook) or whatever size weight that hovers the bottom.
2. 1/4 oz crappie style jig hooked through the lips of a Minnow bouncing off the bottom.
3. A simple three way swivel rig with minnow.
4. If you don't have minnows use a 1/4 oz jig with white or chartreuse color 3 inch grub.
5. Try trolling a Wally driver style bait.
6. Blade bait and spoons can sometimes be effective. Good luck!
