Default Kayak with Minn Kota trolling Motor - Predator XL

For all of you kayak guys who keep asking about trolling setups, check out this video. It features an Old Town Predator XL with a Minn Kota trolling motor built in:

Now this excites me!

10 HP per arm for trolling in a kayak, no motor needed!

I like the idea for long distance runs but I don't see how you could use it while standing and fishing. I know it sucks to paddle a few miles and then fish. Wonder how long the battery last.

The kayak is $1,699 and the Minn Kota unit is $999.

I would just recommend a damn boat at that point.

Saw them at the Nashville Boat and Fishing Show at the Fairgrounds last spring. They are interesting, but I think if I'm going to go motor, I'm going to go all or nothing.

Here is an interesting video promoting the kayak and Minn Kota trolling motor as an addition to your existing boat:

Paddling a kayak around and casting lures doesn't interest me. This kayak setup makes precision trolling a possibility!

Really creative idea, but I only spent 14k on my tracker 175. I fish out of boat and Native Ultimate, love having both options.

I just got a used '15 Nucanoe Frontier 12 with a 40# Mk on it, tiller steer, and like it so far. Like the higher seating, and the ability to swivel around on the higher seating, allows more freedom of movement to shift "cheeks", etc., to avoid discomfort. Plan on trolling for crappie in the shallow water come spring time.

My fishing kayak (the blue one) is Native Slayer Propel. I pedal forward and backward. It doesn't take lots if effort to go places, plus it's hands free, except for the steering. Which is easy.
