Default Nickajack slabs.

Still fishing guys....just not as much....still setting up new house. Hit Nickajack at 9:30 a.m. In an hour and fifteen minutes I had 9 fish of a 15 fish limit. Then the east wind kicked in and it took me almost 4 hours to get the other 6. Almost went home but decided to stick it out. Nine fish were caught using a Bison colored Trout Magnet....a Tict Ice Cube Rockin' Drift 6' 9" UL rod with 2# test braid with about 2 feet of 2# test Phantom fluorocarbon leader twitching in 21 feet of water using a count down to the bottom. Caught the rest with a Yamaga Blanks Blue Current 6' 10' Jig Head Special UL rod spooled with SOS 2# test line with a Midnight Blue Slab Magnet on a 1/32 ounce Double Cross Jig Head....also twitched along the bottom and most would hit it as it started up the ledge. The bass came on the Slab Magnet....a nice little fight with the 2# test. Smallest crappie were 12 inches with some close to the 14 inch mark.....big shouldered fish. All fish given away. Not setup in the new house yet to clean fish. Love Nickajack...life is good!

Regards

Thanks for the comments Terry......I give a lot of fish away. If you lived close to Murfreesboro I'd be happy to oblige.

Thanks much...may take you up on that sometime. Big change for me. Will really miss Pickwick......can only make that trip now a few times a year. But looking forward to getting out on Center Hill more and eventually get out on JPP.

Awesome catches! How do you fish trout magnets in deep water? Do you put on extra weight or just let it sink?

I have lead jig heads with an #8 hook in 1/32....1/24.....1/16......and my largest is a 3/32 with a #6 hook. Waiting on a Trout Magnet jig head to get down to 20 feet will take several minutes. If I need anything bigger than those jig heads listed I will use a Trout Magnet jig head on a drop shot rig. Now that I have a boat I will use the drop shot more often....fishing along dam walls. There is another way to get the TM down deep but is expensive. I just ordered 80 bucks worth of 6mm and 8mm tungsten jig heads with a #8 hook. I use tungsten mostly in winter. Using tungsten jig heads....JDM UL rods.....and some Nanofil line you can tell if a fish just looks at it....LOL. I love fishing with tungsten but due to the expense I don't use it as much as I would like.

Regards
