Default Brook Trout out of the Caney this year?

I've fished the Caney pretty dang hard this summer and have yet to land a Brook Trout. I think I may have hooked a couple but I'm not 100% sure about that. Last year, I was catching them pretty regular. I thought maybe it was just me but I had a guy ask me about it this morning on the river. He has experienced the same thing.

Has anyone caught a Brook this year? Did I miss something? Where did they all go?

Fishing this morning was a bit slow but I imagine the river has been hit pretty hard this weekend. I did manage a few good ones. This was one of the better fish but had a few others around the 16" mark.

They are there, I caught a bunch this summer at night directly below the Dam in the pond area on TM's. I waded/fished @ the rest stop this morning and literally only seen 2 fish in 3 hours! I should have brought the boat...

That's a beautiful rainbow! I was night fishing a lot below the dam earlier this Summer and caught plenty of trout but only one Brook, it was 15.5". Pretty nice size for a Brook but that's the only one for me. Maybe they're not doing so well in there.

Default Brooks

I caught almost all of brooks in April and May. The biggest in May- 17 inches.
Other than that it was been brookless.
