yes. IMO, if a crankbait will just reach the bottom, that is the best. I fish all the to about 22' with a crankbait on Priest. I use the larger round ambassadeur's with 16 lb magnathin, 8' casting rods and throwing a long ways is huge help. If I am fishing 13 to 17' I throw a dt16 or some of my old poe's 400's, from 8 to 12' I throw a fat free shad, a dt10 or some of old poe's 300's. Deeper than 17, I throw the biggest fat free shad, a dt20 or a couple of old poe's 400+'s I have. Not sure color is super important, I have caught fish on many different colors, I do like rootbeer float a lot on priest and I know a lot of people use strike king crankbaits, I just do not like them, the Rapala DT's are hard to beat for casting and getting to depth. I generally "look" with a crankbait and when I catch a fish, either throw out a marker buoy or MOST of the time, DROP an anchor (mine weighs 50 lbs), and then I generally throw a worm, but when the fish want a crankbait, I throw it. I do throw a texas rigged worm about as much as a crankbait.
