Visiting Tennessee, Hoping for some tips!

Hey guys,
My family and I are coming up to Tennessee for a week. We're staying in a cabin on Fall Creek Falls.

I'm from Clearwater,FL so I've done a lot of saltwater fishing in my day, but I've never dropped a single line in freshwater before.

Whats the best kind of bait to use? Should I get a couple lures?

Is there a "good" time of the day to go fishing? (Like on an incoming high tide in the ocean)

I don't believe I'll have access to a boat or anything, is it even worth it to fish from shore?

Last but not least, if anyone has ever fished at Fall Creek Falls, are there any specific places/areas that are better for fishing?

Zack,
Moving from salt to fresh, you may be a bit disappointed; so keep expectations in check. I'd suggest bringing just one, light, spin-cast set-up with ~10lb line. 7' rod. Other gear: go simple . . . small stuff (small jigs with swim baits/twister tails). Spend about $20 at a local bait store when you're around Cookeville.

You'll be fairly limited on shore fishing options, but certainly not "locked out."

You're going to be pretty close to Dale Hollow, so you might consider a fishing charter for Stripers above the damn or a trout float below the damn in the tail waters. Your light gear will work fine for trout, and a striper guide will have gear to use.

Definitely bring something . . . you'll be in a beautiful location and will want to fish.

I'm sure others will chime in with good recommendations.

Falls Creek Falls has good fishing from the shore with lots of accessible water. You can also rent rowboats and canoes. It has been a few years since I last fished there, but it had good bass, sunfish, and crappie in the lake. I saw people fishing the creek, but don't know how the fishing is in it. It is a nice park.

Fall Creel Falls is a trophy bluegill lake. This time of year you might do well from the bank. There is a trail that goes from the dam to the hotel. Fish around that trail as you walk it. Dale Hollow has no stripers in it. The small mouth fishing is good and the bluegill and shell cracker bite should be going. I wouldn't expect too much from Dale Hollow unless you are in a boat...not much bank fishing goes on there. As was stated earlier there is good trout fishing below the dam at Dale Hollow.

Sounds great! I'll definitely have to pick up a few different types of lures.
Should I be using weights or bobbers? Anything to keep the bait at a certain depth in the water?

I'm used to throwing a decent amount of weight on my line to keep it right off the sea floor. I've never used a bobber before, should I be using one?
