Default Caney Fork*** 04/05/2015

11AM-5PM
Sun to clouds
58 to 68 degrees
winds variable from all directions

Started extremely slow. 2 Generators.

At noon went to 1. Still slow.

2PM Generators off, followed old tried and true pattern. Nothing.

Returned to the first spot we fished and worked a minnow bait like a jerk bait. Fish every cast. Browns and rainbows. Browns were Fat Albert fat.

We saw a huge swirl. I told my friend , "If that is a trout it is a doozy!" About 10 mins later he hooked something. It ran towards the boat. He said not that big.
Then he realized his line was limp, the fish was swimming parallel to the boat, the line went taunt and out of the water came a monster bow! It was 5 feet in the air if an inch. Over the next five minutes it crashed into the back of the boat, almost wrapped the anchor, made run after long run. I kept mumbling don't come off! Don't come off! Finally in the net and the line broke.

A gorgeous fish. And released after the pics. We continued to fish and hooked fish every cast until the generators turned back on and we called it a day.

Caught 40 total. We kept 10 eaters.

Good to have the old girl back. I missed ya', Caney.

Sounds like a great for you guys. You mentioned a key point there, "jerk retrieve". Fished Caney yesterday and the Obey today and that made all the difference.
