Default Richland creek

Fished Richland Cree today. That stream that runs through McCabe and behind St. Thomas.
Caught 4 Crappie (all around 14"). 2 Smallies over 2.5 lbs ea.
The surprise was an 11" sauger.

Sounds like a nice trip out, Congrats! Your curse had worn off Normandy by the time I got there Saturday afternoon I caught 22 trout, a crappie and bluegill in about 2 hours, lost about 5 more trout.

Man, I feel really bad about this. A 2.5 LB. smallie would have to wade in that little creek.
However, I always have a good catch on APRIL 1.

I wonder how many of the site's lurkers are Google Mapping that creek right now and planning to head there this weekend? Well done!

i think you are underestimating the world class striper fishery that is Richland Creek. The crappie and smallmouth you mention are secondhand fish in that stretch of water. Ive also witnessed with my own good eye, walleyes so thick in that creek this time of year you could practically walk across them and never get your feet wet.

Even without the walleyes you could probably walk across it and not get your feet wet.

Haven't heard from Merv since I gave him directions to the boat ramp at St. Thomas Hospital.

I actually cut my fishing teeth in Richland
creek RIGHT behind St Thomas where the old Knight's of Columbus club was. After football practice I'd stay and fish for bluegill with rooster tails. Used to catch a ton-no size, but didn't matter to a 12 year old. Near belle Meade below the HG Hill Property there is that spillway, used to catch tons of panfish and the occasional small bass in there. Seems the lower you go the more polluted it gets. I read they actually have removed all the spillways or are working to remove them to prevent more siltation.

Don't hate on Richland!

Jay, no hate here. Every time I am in the parking building at St. Thomas I stop and gaze at the creek wishing I had a rod and reel.
I played golf at McCabe on April 1 and like always I wished I could slip a pole in and fish. I have caught a few good Titleist balls in that creek.
