Default Fun time on JPP

Went to priest today with a friend from church planning to catch a limit of crappie. After spending about 2 hours and having only 2 eight inchers I surrendered to the reality that I am no good at fishing for crappie. We switched over to fishing for water zebras and I landed this one on a large gizzard shad on a planer board. The fish was super fat and splattered the boat with his..... ughh... hmmmm.....man juice we'll say. He swallowed the shad completely so I cut the line and released him. Also caught a bucket mouth and a white bass. The hybrids were feeding on the surface and we missed 4 other that pulled out rods down but didn't take enough of the shad to get hooked.

Looking forward to getting back out soon. This was my first water zebra of 2015.

Nice fish, don't give up on the crappie yet,the big ones are close to turning on,I've been 3 times in the last 4 days and only caught 20 keepers and 1 undersized, spoke to one guy that caught 80 and only had 2 keepers. They'll turn on anyday now so don't give up just yet.

I'm visiting friends and fished Jpp for the first time last two days. So far 68 with 17 keepers. I've been long lining in about 10 feet of water.

Nice Fish! My grandfather fished yesterday on priest and caught around 70 crappie with 27 keepers. They were still deeper in the 20' range but staged to make the move up, no eggs really formed well in his wish.
