Hi all, first post here. We are coming down to the Nashville area for spring break starting the 21st to visit my wife's best friend and I'm planning on doing some crappie fishing with my son. She lives within site of Old Hickory near cedar creek and we will be staying out by the airport. My boat is not real big. It is 16 foot and has a 9.9. I started long lining last year and was pretty successful and can do that or cast. From the research I have done I get the feeling that I might have an easier time catching fish at JPP. I was thinking the four corners area or fate sanders. From what I have found if I want to clean any fish fate sanders is the only place I know of that has a cleaning house on JPP. Unless we rent a car it would be easier for me to fish around the cedar creek area of OH. Anyone have any suggestions for me? Heres to hoping it warms up.

I can't help you much with OH Crappie but I know the Crappie in JPP should be plenty shallow by the 21st when you get here. Last year I'd scan areas 9-12 feet deep and look for schools on the graph. Then troll back through in my kayak with a rod out each side double rigged with 2 1/16oz jigheads and assorted curlytail grubs about 18" apart. I'd try different colors to see what worked best that day. Their preference changes but white is always a sure shot.

Maybe send a message to Nailman_83 (I think that was his screen name) on here. He was catching some nice slabs on OH in the Winter, even a few 16 inchers. He seems to know Crappie in that lake really well so he may be able to help if you want to stay in that area.

Several recreation areas will have plenty of crappie reachable from the bank that time of year on JPP. Target wind blown coves.

Launch at Cedar Creek marina and stay right in that area. There is tons of sunken brush which will hold crappies this time of year.

If you have a graph, cruise around and you will find plenty of structure to fish. Cedar creek is a very good area for crappie.

You might want to send a PM to dakota on here. He fishes that area quite often I believe and he's very willing to share information.
