I caught a skipjack in my cast net last night in front of the spillway at old hickory dam. They wouldn't bite on a sabiki, but the shad were.

My thoughts also, I have foul hooked them before with a sabiki both Gizzards and threadfins. But never seen one actually hit the jig before.

I think they were gizzard but I didn't pay attention really. I know the difference I didn't really pay attention cause I was after skipjack and the shad were aggravating me. They weren't foul hooked. I've fished off of the rocks on the hendersonville side and caught them left and right in the mouth not foul hooked. In fact, I had 2 on the sabiki once and had a rockfish came in and rip off a hook with a shad on it while several more rockfish came in and started slamming the other shad around it.
