I don't think I've every caught any at night. Was there light at the Dam?

Interested to find out though.

Yes, there's a good amount of light at ohd.

I might just go to oh lake to a spot where i can always find big gizzard shad. Dunno. I know i can get tons of shad at oh dam but they don't keep well in storage. I'm going catfishing saturday night with some friends and I'd like to find some skippies if possible.

Interesting ... I have never fished for Skippies at night ... Maybe the vision is the element and the reason I never have ever caught a skippy in a net in the daytime ... They will out run the falling net ?? <'TK>< :)

5 minutes away i'll let you know

I've caught plenty of skippies after dark below oh dam. They tend to migrate towards the lights, but still in flowing water. They are almost impossible to catch in a cast net due to their speed and eyesight. The one odd thing I've noticed is that I catch mostly large skippies at night. Also, water clarity is a factor, since I don't catch many after sunset in murky water. This falls in line with the sight-feeding nature of skipjack.

iv caught a lot in my throw net right aginst the dam wall just throw the net let it go with the current snach it and normaly u have 2 or 3 and tons of other shad hard to pull that thing back in that current to

I have caught some with a cast net at the inside of the skimmer wall at the Gallatin steam plant. But as TK has mentioned they are a very elusive fish!

i didn't catch any skipjack, but i made a half-hearted attempt due to the fact that large shad were abundant. i did catch this fellow though and a few smaller ones.
