Default TWRA Dove Fields

Anyone make it out to any TWRA dove fields this weekend? Any birds?

Was wondering the same thing. Use to take my son to the youth hunt in Lebanon. Opening weekend was was usually pretty good but after that not much luck. Just didn't care for the crowd. Haven't been since son turned 16.

I went to the pools knob field on Sunday morning, it was pretty lousy, maybe saw 20 birds killed, we were on the wrong end, I never shouldered the gun, then Monday I went to Bone field in Wilson county, also never shouldered the gun, it was worse, maybe saw 5 birds shot. Pretty tough year

I was just about to report back that Bone Field was a bust too. I was there from about 7-10 on Monday and heard just a handful of shots on the other side of the field. What time were you out there? Spoke to the TWRA agent for a quick second Monday morning and he said there weren't any birds there Saturday either.

I may be interested in trying the Williamsport field when it opens up on the 15th. There's sunflowers planted there. I'm not a huge dove hunter but I'm thinkin if I were a dove I'd prefer a sunflower seed over any other seed.

Without seeing the field. My guess would be all the rain we been having is sprouting all the top sown wheat fields.
Most good hunts I have ever been to were in the evening from 3 o'clock on. However most of those good ones were years ago when you couldn't start til noon everyday. Haven't had much luck in the morning. I just don't see doves around here like I use to.I believe that's due to fact of less grain farming and fewer dairy farms.

Good luck

I was there from 6-9. I was over by the bails, but not where the shooting was. Several of those shots were novices shooting at killdeer
