Default Fishing 7/15 Morning

Headed out the my previously mentioned lake "x" or in other words a honey hole that I hold pretty close to the vest. This week same as last week not a soul there except my boat.

Equip: 6'6" med action spinning gear with 8lb test Cajun line and various baits

Started out with dad throwing a spinnerbait and I throwing a 2" swim shad. Hooked up on the first bank we came to with a few bass. Then switched over to a torpedo on top (frog colored) and caught several bass on it as well in the 1-1.5lb range. After probing the pads, I decided it was time to do what I came there for....catch crappie. Since my boat is oar powered its perferct for strolling or slow trolling. Using crappie magnets in white/chartruse, red/chartruse, black/chartruse and purple redemption I rowed and we covered water catching several fish. We probably caught a total 10 crappie lost 5 or 6 more including a really nice one and caught 10 bluegill in 4 1/2 hours of fishing.

This is the first time I decided to bring some home this year so hopefully the girls will give it a try.

Around 6pm but I'll warn you, if you're looking for some great tasting crappie might need to go to Alpha's place.

I don't do this enough to have all the recipe's nailed down.

I boiled mine today in salt/pepper/garlic/butter and then served hot with a butter dipping sauce.

The hot sauce sounds good though. May try it next time.
