Thank you FishFinderG, your thoughts are very parallel with my own regarding the Alewives and their impact to the fishery. I hear varying thoughts on the two genomes and I have had conversations with TWRA biologist regarding the health of the populations of both Walleye and Sauger throughout TN. I'm just happy TN is Blessed with these tasty fish and I attempt to learn as much as possible to aid in my ability to catch them.

I just don't see how it could be possible for the strain to exist with limited to no reproduction occurring over the last 35 years plus with the several million they have stocked over that time period. Even if they were reproducing the gene pool would be so diluted that one strain would not be possible. Almost three years ago we pulled what a biologist called a blue walleye out of Dale, so I guess to never know...
