I wouldn't be surprised at all! Remember that 22" brown I posted pics of two summers ago? I caught that one on falling water right out in front of the ramp at Happy. I walked out as far as I could due to the water still being high and twitched a rainbow trout color yozuri and that's where I caught it. I don't think that's typical though. There were a lot of stockers hanging around, possibly just stocked which would basically ring the dinner bell for big browns. I'd love to catch one like that on a TM though, the battle on 4lb test would be fun!

It wasn't an incredible battle by any means. The first one....that big fish decided she was going downstream after shaking her head at me and there wasn't anything I could do. This fish came upstream towards me so I angled it to were once it passed and turned for a downstream run the net would be waiting. Very uninspiring but fortunate to get in....it may never realize it was hooked...LOL.

btw... I never use anything larger than 2lb test with a 7x fluorocarbon leader (approx 2lbs).

Glad you had a day like today. Love to see people catch fish. I know you don't get to fish as much as you like and it is always good to get into them like you did. I have stood probably very close to where you were at today and fished in the rain until the lightning run me off....cant stand the lightning. Lots of nice browns there even in the low water.

Regards

That 2# test fluorocarbon is a big factor in catching more.....and bigger.....trout.....IMHO

During generation you can catch just about anything that swims in that river below the dam from the steps. You can venture out onto the rocks downstream a bit as well if you want. I'd strongly recommend that you do not do that if it has rained and the rocks are wet. One fall one those rocks and that may be your last fishing trip. On the other bank, you can walk out there on NO generation (don't ever hang around there once the water starts pumping, you'll have no way to get back to your vehicle other than to swim) and fish around the waterfalls. I've caught some nice sized LM bass and white bass there, people catch walleye and trout that way as well. Your best bet is to wade though, on low water.
