Default Jacksonville fishing 6/18/12

Went fishing again with the same guy I fished with back in 2010. Another excellent trip, but the water was not quite right to get too far offshore. We tried trolling for a short time, but the Atlantic in that area was filled with sargasso weed clumps, most likely stirred up by TS Beryl and another disturbance off Bermuda that caused a rare June Nor'easter. We bottom fished for the rest of the day and had a fantastic trip. I must have 20+ lbs. of grouper, cobia & black sea bass fillets in the freezer. That should last me for a while.

Here are some pics from the trip and the link to the Team Buck Rogers website. If you ever get a chance to go deep sea fishing in Jacksonville or NE Florida, please give my friend Chad a call.

Sad, because we had to throw all of them back. Red snapper season closed indefinitely, because ahem... there are none to be caught. we caught at least ten snapper this size. Sure do wish we could have kept them.

Black sea bass. Not big, but really great eatin'.

cobia & grouper on the dock. For some reason, we didn't get any cobia pics on the boat. They swam right up to the boat and we caught them by freelining pogeys. Talk about a fantastic topwater bite!

Hope everybody gets to go fishing on their vacations too.
