Default what about caney river tomorrow?

I have to come to Nashville tomorrow and should be free after lunch and would like to do some fishing. I was wondering if anyone knows what fishing would be like on caney river at the dam and rest area bank fishing? Or do you think I should just try OH or Priest?

I would try OH or Priest. IMO, 1 gen is too much water to have much success from the bank. I wade and fly fish so I don't go over there when it's generating...water is too high to safely wade.

How common is it to get a 2lb or larger rainbow or brown trout on the caney? And how common are the brook trout there? I have only caught "stocker size" rainbows here and have wanted to catch some bigger size trout and some brown/brookies also.I bought the non-res TN fishing license with trout $99.00 and haven't got to even fish in Tn much this year...it's killin me.

I would be using some lite spinning rods with spoons and inline spinners to fish with if I went to Caney.

Default Caney Friday

If the generators are flowing, the stripers are there. They were there last week. I would throw 1/2 to 10z spoons. If sluice open, throw as far as you can towards the sluice. If you only have medium to medium lite, ignore this advise and fish for trout with smaller spoons.

I hope to catch a 1,000.

What is a average size striper to catch? I could bring bass gear with 20lb braid.

The stripers in there get pretty big, lots of 20lb+ fish. With the strong currents the power of those fish, I would use something a little more stout than standard bass gear, 65lb braid.

I fished the Caney last night and did pretty good using jerk baits. They weren't generating and I caught trout and walleye. I think I hooked a striper too but after a long battle my 4lb test line was no match and it spit the lure out.

Wow what a Brown Trout!!! I fished for a while when they were generating and also when they were not. When they quit generating and water first calmed down I was standing on the steps and could see a couple of large fish I belive were trout about that size cruising along close to the bottom. I also tried fishing on Center Hill Lake for about a hour. I didn't catch anything today.
