Default Got into hybirds and then......

Launched at 7 Points and found hybirds this morning and the fish finder was chirping like crazy. Land two real nice ones, missed several others and then caught a bonus 12 lb cat. Was running low on bait so headed to get more bait and was thinking it was a great morning to be out. I have caught a lot of bait in the back of Old Hickory cover this summer so ran over there and my Old Johnson sputtered and died. Would not start again and staying running, seemed to back fire when it was turning over. Gave up and put the trolling motor down and started steaming back toward 7 points. The guys I have numbers for were not fishing. Bass boats and pleasure boats were not stopping. Finally got my seventeen yr old on the phone and she met me at Cooks so I could retrieve the boat trailer and load. Think I have more that a simple fix going on with the motor.

Any one have any recommendations for a motor repair?

Thanks in advance

Which Johnson do you have. I would check fire and compression. Hopefully it's fuel though

If you are getting some spark, check that the flywheel hasn't sheared the key and jumped time.

One hour and four bucks later the boat is fixed. Replaced the fly wheel key and she started right up. Thanks for the help JKtrevecca!

Thumbs up

Glad to hear you got it going. Amazing what kind of problems something so small can cause.

No matter the weather, time of year, ect.....when the big motor goes down, its a bad bad feeling.
