Default Off the lock wall.

Despite it being a cool, dank kind of day, with lots of drizzle early morning I thought I might get into some Gills below Nickajack Dam........so I decided to go......I was right. I had a great day with well over 75 chunky Gills.....some shell cracker....and quite a few shell cracker-bluegill mix in the bunch. I was using my Major Craft Truzer UL “Hard” model Ajing rod......Daiwa Certate reel spooled with 2# test SOS line. My lure was a Bison colored Trout Magnet on a # 6 cricket hook with a drop shot weight about 18 inches below the TM. I was drifting along at .3 MPH along a 30 foot section of lock wall......would get 2 fish on each pass.....turn around and go back over same path. With the super sensitive Ajing rod it felt like a lightning bolt when they hit....I love that feeling. The fish came out of 15 feet of water and water temps were 50 degrees. I also caught about 12 baby stripers about 9 inches long. I had a lot of fun today. Fish are still fighting hard with the 50 degree water temps. I keep hoping to get into some 9.5 inch Gills and while these fish don’t quite make that length they have some good shoulders and girth......I had an absolute blast.....Life is good!

Very nice. I used to fish there a lot, so I can see where you are talking about in my minds eye. Thanks again for the key details. If my grandsons saw those pictures I guess they’d be asking me about those little bream they’ve been catching with me.
