Default Kissimmee Chain

I'll post this in the out of state fishing page as well :

Well, we watched the weather reports and moon phases and were set to nail the big girls on this recent trip. We had room booked from Sat night till Wed at Camp Mack (which we love btw). Drove down Last Friday figuring we'd get a room on the way down Friday night. Forget that. Not a room available from Gainesville to Camp Mack. Wound up trying to sleep in back of tow vehicle. Not so good.

Saturday arrived at Camp Mack at 430 our time. Launched the boat at first light only to find out that while the temps were going to be 80s they were 40ish in the a.m. The weather forecast didn't advise that winds were going to be out of the north at 18-20 mph. Fishing sucked for us and majority of guys we spoke to. Hard to keep the boat on the Chain. Kiss impossible, Cypress at the east end was doable but not fun. Caught a few including a few pickerel and then offered bribe to desk clerk to let us in room early. She was a sweetheart, laughed an let us in right away.

We didn't fish on Sunday. Checked out some other areas. Asked about and was told K river at south end of Chain has some big fish in it. We found that to be true Tuesday a..m. Monday we fished Cypress for a bit with no bites whatsoever so we ran up to Toho where we got into fish but nothing big. Lots and lots of gators and some damn bigguns too. Lost a very big girl on Hatch later in the evening but called it a day after sun got low.

Tuesday we put in below the locks on lake Kissimmee and fished the river. Got into them right away. Lost several big ones right out of the gate. Wound up with one nice 4lb or so. Partner caught a big 7lb snake head ! Again gators everywhere. If I go back, will definitely hit the river. Lots of water to fish between locks.

Air temps were in the 80's water temps in the low 70s There were several txs over the weekend and some young lady managed a 10.5 lb on a plastic worm. The baits that were hitting though were senko type baits texas rigged and frogs. Big one we lost was on a frog till it wrapped up in lilly pads.

Hope this of some interest. Have a great week.

The shallow Florida lakes can be fickle when the weather changes. My best bass to date I caught on Toho. Those lakes get dangerous when the wind blows.

Sounds like a good getaway even if fish didn't cooperate
