Default Cumberland/Old Hickory Sauger

Has anyone started hunting Sauger this year? I was considering heading out this weekend after this latest cold front. Not sure on what general area I should start my search?

I havent been yet this year, but if what i read was right....the water temp is perfect. Go for it. Try below the dam around the wing wall or around places that another creek flows into the river....like the stones when there is flow.

I actually made it out this twice this past weekend. Caught 9 Sauger total, 4 keepers. Two of which were 19 and 20 inches.

Thinking about trying sauger fishing from my kayak sometime in the next few days. I’ve only fished for them below dams, and since I’m not comfortable taking my kayak below the dam I’m thinking about alternatives.Would I have any luck around Cario?Or should I head upstream or downstream from there?

Yes. Caught 3. I didn't measure any but 2 would probably kept. 15-17 inches or so and 1 was about 14 inches probably. All were caught at the barrier throwing a 6xd.
