Question Outboard Mechanic Hendersonville Area???

I've used the Tracker shop folks across from WaffleHouse Hendersonville before they moved to Nashville. Any references for Mechanics nearer H'ville? I saw the references for those in Hermitage/Lebanon; hoping to find someone closer.

Question

It's a '87 Mercury 90hp inline 6 "tower of power". It just cranked and cranked but wouldn't turn over; this was Monday. It sounded like it was just flooded, but after trolling around and fishing for 2 or 3 hrs I tried again, still no turnover. Before this it ran like a scalded dog! Another problem is the trim/tilt that works off and on. Maybe bad solenoid, brushes or no fluid?? Anyway, that's it. Thanks for responding!

Does it have fire? Add fuel to carburetor throat(s) if it fires it is fuel related...if it doesn't it is electrical...then go from there...Those old Merc's are simple to fix.
Tilt trim are problematic to a degree, however easy enough....SAA rule out one or the other.

Gordies Marine Service.....615-208-5962...BUT! He's an I/O guy. Doesn't do much on outboards.

I was over at his shop today, good friend of mine and an absolute whiz with I/O's.

Absolute Marine is good. 188 Center Point Rd, Hendersonville....615-822-8378

It sounds like an electrical relay problem to me. Had the same issue with my 2004 Merc 225 Optimax. When the relay burned out, motor would crank (turn over) but would not fire. Sounds like yours has done that. I've actually got two spares in my boat now cause it's happened again.

Went into a marina for lunch, came out and it would crank over but never start or even try to fire. Change out the relay and started right up and has been running fine now for 4 months. It sounds like you aren't getting spark if it was running fine before, doesn't sound like a fuel delivery problem.
