Default JPP fishing this Saturday

The rain is supposed to stop and the temps will be down. So I plan on stripe fishing after catching bait out of 7 Points. The lake is up two feet and Iím sure Suggs will be muddy. Should I go golfing instead, or try to find bait in the muddy water, then move out to the main lake where it should be cleaner.

To fish or not to fish?

To say it's gonna be slooooow is the understatement of the month. BUT - I may see you on JPP this weekend anyway.

My son has a high school fishing tournament next week, and I think even 8 days out; it's gonna be soup.

I'm consoling myself knowing that in 10 days I'll be hunting bull reds and pelagics out of Mobile Bay . . . .

The water at Jefferson pike bridge was muddy yesterday but the bridge at fate sanders was good. I know the muddy water will be moving on down.
I plan on fishing mid lake below four corners. Will give a water report tomorrow.

I would sure appreciate the water report. I'm taking my brother in law out there in the morning.

We fished out of Seven Points this morning. Water temps ranged from 72 at launch and 76 when we loaded up around noon. Water clarity was excellent between the dam and Anderson Rd swim area. We didn't venture any further south because there were a ton of bassboats headed our way, so I'm assuming it was pretty bad towards Fate Sanders.
We ended up with 4 Smallmouth and 3 Largemouth, all but 1 came on a 1/4 Shakey head with a Zoom trick worm. Big Boulder rocks in 8-14ft was the key this morning. The only fish we caught away from that was on a Spinnerbait while fishing the ol road bed in Old Hickory cove.
Speaking of that, I never realized there is so much grass in that lake right now!

I didnít get out till noon because of that work thing and I should have just went golfing. I couldnít find any bait to catch so I ran to 4.5 and tried a jigging spoon for awhile. I marked some fish, I assumed whites or yellows but couldnít hook any. Ran to a few other holes with nothing. Called it a failure at 2:30.

Heiny, there is a lot of bait in Hamilton creek bay, 12-14 FOW. Perfect size threadfins.
Water was clear, 78 degrees yesterday.

Thanks for the tip Merv, I do need to expand my bait chasing range.

Merv, what size shad do you like to use? All I could catch last weekend was 2 1/2 to 3 inch threadfins. I have only fished with 4 to 6 inch gizzards. I couldnít find any of those.

I like to use 5-6 inch shad.
Hamilton Creek bay has some, but I had to move around and throw quite a bit Tuesday. They seemed to be scattered. I'd catch one or two at a time.

Good to know it wasnít just me, LOL. I caught 3 6 inchers out of gallons of smalls ones. I got a lot of excercise trying. What is this cool weather going to do to both bait, and Hybrids? I couldnít find any fish last Saturday from 4.5 to dam.
