Don, I was just by there Friday ... I should have checked it out ... M. Gallatin Ramp.. it located at the foot of the 109 bridge on bridge on the Wilson county side ... neat place with Picnic tables a cove and a dock ... really don't know if it is still open ... I will be by there Thursday the 21st ... I will check it out ... It is only 3 miles north of Lagardo on 109 ... <'TK><

This is a first for all of us ... I will supply 80 pounds of Charcoal and lighter ... and it we will keep the supplied grills going ... you might want to bring a small portable grill for yoyurself just incase especially if you have wife and kids ... I know Kids ... EAT NOW !!! ...

For the folks who are bringing their familes ... I would provide for yourself just to make sure ... The folks that are bring beans, salads, buns, brats , chips for the masses ... whatever we really don't know right now ... If everyone would list for Don what and who is bringing what it would be great and we can lay everything out on Tables etc ...

We know we are going to have a least 30 members there ... now family members is a different ballgame as far as covering food ... we have no count ... running blind ... This will be a learning experience for the future ... see above for possibly another venue <'TK><

em, brats, chicken breasts and anything else we might need. My wife and baby girl will be in Europe for a while and I'll be footloose!

Old Hickory has lots of boat traffic on the weekends in the summer most anywhere. At least Lagardo is in a creek arm off the main lake. There are places around there to get away from the traffic. A kayak fisherman has to learn these things.

You can launch your boat at Davis Corner (lots of parking) and come across the creek to lagaurdo....Remember we will start fishing at 6:30 so if you get there at 6am there is usually plenty of parking spaces left...But like I said you can launch at Davis corner and just come across the creek and beach your craft at the picnic area...lots of sandy bottom to beach your boat.

Just throwing it out there, but if anyone who is planning on attending this is coming from Nashville, let me know and maybe we can coordinate riding together. Also, I don't know if it's trying to be coordinated, but I have a back seat in my boat for anyone looking for one.

Thanks!

Smile New venue for the "gathering" <'tk><

Okay, I checked out LaGardo ... Yep to crowded and to busy and $$$ ...And little shade I went by Martha Gallatin Rec Area today ... It is about 3 miles North on Hwy 109 right at the foot of the Gallatin Bridge on the left ... I was there at 2:00PM ... It was like it was back in the 70's when GABA use to hold all of it's Tourneys out of there except it's better with a lot of improvements and no $$ fees ... (There were no boats in the parking lot ... In fact no vehicles at all except the Summer Rec attendants trailer.

large parking area .... a covered pavilion, about 5 more Picinic tables with nice grills all under shade trees and a back cove where you can beach your boat ... right at the tables and pavilion ... a perfect place ...

Gates open @ 6:00 AM ..

Directions ... Going North to Gallatin from I-40 you are on HWY 109 North ... You will go approx 11 miles and you will top a hill and see the bridge and construction below ... There will be a storage facility, a Garage and Quick Mkt next to a small Strip mall . At the end of the strip mall turn left ... go 100 yds and you will see it on the right .. (note this is the last chance to turn off of 109 before you cross the bridge )

I think this will take care of all the congestion, parking problems, Beaching boats and SUN ... <'TK><

Sounds like a good idea TK. Laguardo is a really nice area but as you said, it gets extremely crowded. I think i will put in here at Bartons Creek by my house and run the river down there.
