Football was more my game.

I always played the end guard position. Played right on the end of the bench and guarded the water bucket!

Alright guys it's going to be at Shelby Park. Saturday May 3rd

There is a ramp for anyone who would like to fish the Cumberland river before or afterward. Golf course so Merv and Sambolie so they can swing their sticks together. Pond for anyone who would like to walk around dunking worms. A disc golf course for the Frisbee throwers.

Jeremy ...what memories ...Shelby Park ... In 1954 when I was 8 years old my Dad use to take me sledding on the Hills on the Golf Coarse ... It wasn't to far from our house ... We would travel Riverside Drive to McGavock PK. We lived 4 house's from the river right before you boarded the old Ferry to Donaldson ... The ferry was the Judge Hickman... I lived on the river as a kid ...

Question ..I can get there but if you or Mike could give me an address that I can plug in to my GPS it sure would help ... The only way I would know to come is via Inglewood down Riverside ... And I know the Nashville route would be better ... I haven't been to Shelby Park since 1972 ... When I moved back to Tennessee ... Thanks ... <'TK><

PS ... I had a Great Aunt and Uncle who use to live in an old stone house on the right when you first entered the park from the Nashville side .. ... They were born in the late 1800's ... My Dad told me he would ride a bus for a nickel to Shelby to swim in the pool in the summer ... He was born in 1920 ... Is there still a swimming pool ... I know The duck pond is still there I fished out of it in the 50's with my Dad ...

You can only not fish in the ponds in the preserve. The river and Shelby pond are good to go

Here is the location of the shelter, the blue pin. Right on the lake. Plenty of parking, plenty of table space. No grill though, so if the plan is to grill, someone will have to supply that. We have it reserved may 3rd 6am to 11pm.

Has Shelby gotten any safer in the last year or two? Last I heard, you didn't want to spend much time in the park without a gun or two.
