Creeks??

I hear you about new water. I had fished this spot for many years. Only a short thigh deep section to get out to an ankle deep gravel bar. I would not have waded it without already knowing the spot as you couldn't really see the bottom deeper than about 1 and a half feet deep.

Creek fishing is a blast! I really like the 2lb test with 2lb fluorocarbon leader set up for the creek. I am not positive I can catch everything I hook and there are a bunch of tense moments trying to land a typical stream bass. Lots of drag pulling and back reeling. But it adds to the excitement for sure. And so far, few if any have broke off. It almost feels like flyfishing with light tippets for big trout. Totally different than the usual reel them in as fast as possible with the heavier bass tackle.

This little river feeds JPP and is designated a river though the section thru town is never deeper than 18" unless it's pouring down rain many creeks or rivers if you fish are shallow and the bottoms get very slippery, wear some felt soles, bed rock. The creek gets a lot of pressure on "free fishing day" and after that you hardly ever see anyone anymore. Thats good.

Nice looking stretch of water Tom.

I am going to find me a new creek to fish. Mine two fun spots have recently been posted no trespassing. Kind of stinks since I could have been in the water on both in 10 mins or less from the house.

If it wasn't for the Caney trout I'd probably creek smallie fish 80% of my fishing time.
