I was a guitar tech for a year and don't really miss the "work all night/sleep all day" lifestyle. I DO miss falling asleep in a tour bus bunk to the sound of the road coupled with the gentle swaying of the bus.
And yes, I have some interesting stories

I'm gonna throw it out there that I'm a fantastic cook and love to do it. Those tour busses have a kitchen right? That can be my contribution!

That's what I'm talking about. I like fishing tournaments, but I go in with the mind set of my entry is a donation. That way I'm hardly ever disappointed.
I traveled for 4-5 years competing in disc golf tournaments all over the midwest, and east coast. I was on the road any weekend that I wasn't working, and I had 1 week off a month that I would travel for tournaments. It got to the point where it was stressful, I thought I had to always win, or at least win back at least gas, food, and lodging monies. I finally gave it up, and play every once in a while for fun.
But what I do now is the only thing I want to do to depend on keeping my bills paid.
Hey Mike I have a class A CDL, and was a diesel mechanic for 6 years with a degree in electronics, hold my air brake, and DOT certifications.

Back to the tournament, I'm up for some pre-fishing! How early are we allowed to get on the water?

You are allowed to start after the captain's meeting, which is at daylight when the gates open. I figure 1st cast will be about 1hr after sunrise.
Awesome prizes are coming in, and the 1st confirmed sponsor on board is Power Team Lures http://www.powerteamlures.com/. They will be giving a $10 gift certificate to everyone who turns in a memory card.
Many more prizes and sponsors are rolling in, just waiting on confirmations before releasing details.
Make sure you have Hook1 pictures on your kayak, or wearing Hook1 apparel, because if you are and win Hook 1 will match your winnings http://kayakfishinggear.com/. Say you win $200 they will match you with another $200 if you are wearing their apparel, and have decals on your vessel.
If you would like to sponsor a great event then please contact me for details.

Sounds even better now! I know about the captains meeting but I meant how early can we get on the water to pre-fish it?

You can pre-fish anytime you want, there are no restrictions on that. I was hoping to go down for the next few weekends, but other things have popped up.

UPDATE
Besides the cash being paid out Power Team Lures, Yak Attack, RAM Mounts, Supernova Fishing Lights, and Hook 1 are throwing in prizes.
Supernova Fishing lights is adding a complete kayak kit.
Hook1 is paying $100 1st place, $75 2nd Place, and $50 3rd place.
Looks like 1st place could be walking away with well over $500 in prizes and added cash.

Who is coming out to this one? So far, no reason why I won't make it.
I can pay entry fee and the ACA one day insurance during the captains meeting, right? Just in case something work related hinders me once again, I don't want to pay ahead and then have to miss it.

You can pay the ACA Insurance, and Entry at the Captains meeting. The $5 permit is paid at the front office, unless you have a Sportmans license then it's free entry I believe.

Bump. Who all is attending from here? There are a ton of prizes up for grabs and this lake is managed for larger bass. I think there are going to be some big fish caught on Saturday and this is a great way for us to meet and become new fishing buddies.
For those who have fished this lake before, what are the banks like? I'm hoping for lots of timber and grass for my planned morning approach.
Do we specifically have to turn in memory cards or will showing cellphone pics work?

I'll be there. Most of the banks are like a shale rock, and have a gradual slope, with several creek channels. There is more cover (small timber) in the water around the bank in Shellcracker, than Bluecat. They both run about the same max depth around 30'. Most of the water within 60' of the banks is 10' or less, and then gradually drops until the channels. The deeper parts are in the middle of the main lakes, and most of the fingers are 15' or so in the middle of the creek. Points are defined by the bank, and you can about tell just by looking at the bank how each point will look.
Last weekend I spotted several 8" shad that were floating, figured they were attacked by something (hybrid, blue cat, or largemouth).
Good luck
Jeremy
I'm checking on the photo submission.

Was out there for a little while yesterday. Water is stained but was not pea soup green. There were big fish every so often busting surface as singles....hybrids or large mouth....doubt they were cats from the explosions they were making. Some big fish were also cruising along bank. This was going on at Blue Cat and Shell Cracker. Goldeneye is extremely low. But I would not over look it as a place to get some big bass. There was a good flow of water running out of spill gate at Shell Cracker...not so at Blue Cat....but may have changed after rain last night. After some family duties am going to fish it a little this afternoon. Just going to try to have a little fun with some Gills or crappie if I can find them.
Regards
