I am not really sure...but having seen his equipment....meaning his tackle...he is loaded for bear. He is only fishing for the big boys....and he catches them on a regular basis. He was quite excited about that Rainbow....who wouldn't be....but I think he mainly targets Browns.
Don't know if you can see it in that picture but he has a big bait well in his boat. He uses some type of minnows. Not sure if he catches them or buys them. He will drift them on the bottom or under a float. He has a sweet set up for fishing the Caney.
I thought all true fisherman are supposed to stretch the truth about size and numbers.Come on guys get a grip! That is by no means implying that I stretch the truth. LOL
I didn't weigh the fish but the man who caught it did. That gentleman is known for taking huge Browns. When I took my photograph he was not holding it even the least bit out in front of him to get a frame of reference. He had brought it over to us for my son to use his camera to take his pic. Trust me...the fish was 12 pounds...maybe a little more. My son...who took the pic for the man has a 10 pound plus Brown Trout to his credit...remarked it was quite a bit bigger than the Brown he caught. It was an impressive Rainbow.
I know this guy his name is Ivan Skavar, Russian I believe. Have fished with him he uses small rainbow trout but mostly a Rapala with a Rainbow pattern.I could only go with him twice not a fun person to fish with, definitely not someone I would want to fish in his area. Be careful!!!
